The Big Jewelry Trends During New York Fashion Week, Spring 2020

New York, the first stop on the international ready-to-wear runway circuit is where we get a glimpse of the jewelry trends that we most likely will be seeing as we head off to London, Milan and Paris. Although fashion designers are showing what you will be wearing for spring 2020, the jewelry worn on the runway is often an exaggeration and an extension of what jewelry journalists and retailers see during Las Vegas Jewelry Week. This year is no exception and many of the jewels on the catwalk have been evolving as key directions since last spring. New York Fashion Week also featured some alluring fashion creators collaborating with independent jewelry designers that are on point or ahead of the curve. The fact that the jewelry we are talking about continues to go forward and have a strong presence on both the runways and in the jewelry studios suggests that these are pieces that you might want to invest in and wear now or put on your list for the holidays.
Coloring Outside The Lines:
Vibrant shades and intriguing juxtapositions of gemstones were out in full force and the Brandon Maxwell Show played them to the hilt. Whether the runway pieces were real or faux doesn’t matter. The look was right on target with what creative jewelers are combining and contrasting in bold, eye-catching looks.
Linked Together
Brandon Maxwell also hit on another major trend that has been strong for a number of seasons–bold statement chains. While they can be heavy and exaggerated for a stroll down the catwalk, in real life, they need to stand out without throwing your neck out or weighing down your wrist or your lobe. Carolina Bucci’s links for necklaces and bracelets offer a lighter weight version with tactile interest in yellow, white and rose gold or two colores combined.
Bohemian Rapsody
Mix flowing print dress, and jewelry that references Victorian times with a dash of whimsy and edgy femininity thrown it and you get a modern bohemian feeling in both the clothes and the jewelry. Cameos and intaglios have both hit the current jewelry scene and Julie Wolfe’s combination of elements creates a contemporary twist while Amedeo offers up their usual irreverent styles
Again, The Hoopla
Just when it looked like hoops were running their course again (the go in and out of style more than any other style of jewelry)–they make a huge showing on the runway and both established and independent designers are still creating new incarnations.
By The Seashore
Spring/summer 2020 looks to the sea and sand for inspiration with found objects mixed together in charm necklaces and braclet and linear earrings. Ulla Johnson collaborated with London-based designer Grainne Morton for some of her oceanic looks.
Pearly Whites;
Pearls that are are anything but conventional are becoming the new norm for designers who work with these magical elements from the sea. In another collaboration between designer and jeweler, Jason Wu teamed up with Mizuki and the result was streamlined with a twist on tradition in both the clothes and the jewelry, signaling the trend towards pearl designs that range from sculptural to natural forms.
Part of The Tribe
A sophisticated sensual take on organic tribal influences permeated the ready-t0-wear and jewelry at the 3.1 Phillip Lim show, which featured the work of jewelry designer Ariana Boussard-Reifel. Both designers are committed to ethical practices and sustainability. Sophie Hughes is another jewelry designer whose work features these same strong inspirations.

How to Pick Up the Right Jewellery for Each Occasion

Every woman loves jewelry and owns them. They have been wearing jewelry to upgrade their looks since stone ages. Jewelry is often worn in some cultures by the men and women to show their social statuses. Women used to wear egg shells, sea shells, colorful stones and feathers in ancient time but now they can wear gold, diamond, crystal and artificial jewelry. Our outfit is incomplete without jewelry and we must wear one or two pieces of jewelry for a nice and polished look. Some women believe that they can wear any jewelry anywhere with any dress. This is a wrong concept because if a jewelry is not chosen rightly then it can degrade your looks.
A proper awareness to what we can wear on each occasion is quite necessary as each occasion has its own demand and style. For example, you can’t wear a diamond necklace to every occasion similarly you can’t wear sea shell jewelry to a wedding ceremony. The key is to know when you can wear it or when you cannot. We have a made a list for you, so you can have an idea what you can wear on certain occasions.
Casual Occasions:
When you want to dress up casually for example when you are going out with your friends, going for shopping or just going to college or school then you need to go for simple items. Fine metal jewelry is the best option for casual occasions. Your every day jewelry should not be too much colorful and should not be too much big. It should be simple and decent and should make you look simple and elegant at the same time.
What can you wear?
Whether you are wearing a high neck or a V-neck shirt, you can choose thin fine metal necklaces and wear them altogether for a stylish look. Just like necklaces you can choose thin gold or white gold bracelets for everyday jewelry as they put good focus on your beautiful hands. You can also wear a watch for casual occasions. Wedding rings can be worn all the time on every occasion and rings that are smaller in size and are made of white gold or rose gold can be worn every day too. You should never choose big or fancy earrings for casual occasion in fact you should opt for decent looking earrings. You can wear small diamond earrings or any gemstone earring that does not have radius more than 3mm. The tip is not to wear extra jewelry because wearing a lot of jewelry will make you look odd.
Formal Occasions:
Most women confuse them with professional occasions, but formal occasions are quite different. These include weddings, galas, opera and fundraising events. You want to look elegant and lovely in these events and jewelry can help you to achieve these looks. You can show off your expensive jewelry in these events, but I will still advise you not to wear more than two pieces because it will put too much focus on your jewelry and not you. So, take out your expensive diamond, pearl or other precious stone jewelry to look the best.
What can you wear?
Lariat necklace or a single long pendant will give you an elegant look. They look great with deep necks and V-neck gowns or dresses. Never ever forget to wear earrings if you want to achieve a formal look. Wear matching earrings with pendants or long earrings whether you are rocking an updo or have left your hair open. Your own wedding and engagement ring or diamond rings will steal everyone’s attention so wear them with confidence when you are going to a formal occasion. Big diamond bracelets or gold bracelets will always look classy and dainty on you so choose them with your favorite gown or lacy dress.
Party Occasions:
Birthday parties, dinner parties, cocktail parties clubbing or a dinner date with bae is included in party occasions. The best thing about these occasions is that you can literally wear anything. You don’t need to worry that whether it is too sparkly or too big or even too thin. If you like it and it goes greatly with your dress, then go for it without any hesitation. One thing you need to remember before you choose your jewelry is that never go overboard with it. Always wear one or two pieces of jewelry at a single time because if you wear too much jewelry then you will look like a disco ball and you will put a bad impression on everyone.
What can you wear?
As already mentioned above that you can choose any jewelry. For necklaces, you can wear necklaces that have big or small gem stone on them or thick gold chains. You can also wear 2 or 3 thin and small statement necklaces at a single time. If your dress has shiny material or pearls, then I would advise you to go for simple necklaces that are not too long. You can also wear any kind of bracelet, bracelets with big gold chains are trending this year. You can also wear arm cuffs on parties. If you want to look extra, then you can also go for bigger rings that have huge stones or that are funky as bigger rings catch people’s attention.

Learn About Fashion Jewelry

jewelry: discover celebrity looks and unique styles
Fashion jewelry, also called costume jewelry, refers to the jewelry worn everyday, not necessarily for special occasions. Fashion jewelry typically strives to make a fashion statement, sometimes as a stand-alone piece, an accentuating item, or as a compliment to the entire daily wardrobe.
An inexpensive alternative
Fashion jewelry is generally regarded as less expensive than precious metals and gemstones and often includes semi-precious stones, cubic zirconium crystals, high-end simulated stones, beads, glass, or rhinestones. Metal components in fashion jewelry might also include sterling silver, pewter, silver-plated and gold-plated. However, in a dynamic society that places a great deal of emphasis on fashion, what defines fashion jewelry can sometimes include modern, trendy, eclectic, vintage, and anything goes.
Who sets the trends?
Celebrities often dictate the season’s hottest trends, and fashion jewelry has gained unparalleled popularity – mimicking the lavish, sparkling fashions celebrities love to flaunt. High-end fashion jewelry pieces are available as collectible replicas of the latest jewels celebrities have been seen wearing to awards shows, weddings, parties, night clubs, and even in their latest movies. The realm of fashion jewelry itself has achieved a celebrity status in direct proportion to the individuals that show off their fashion tastes and sense of style. Celebrity-inspired jewels are always hot and make on-trend fashion statements.
The rise of vintage
Vintage fashion jewelry is also steadily increasing in popularity. For individuals desiring a classy and unique look, vintage fashion jewelry offers a great option. Many vintage jewelry pieces are bright and bold in color and design. Plastic and Lucite bracelets are cute, on trend, and funky accents to daily outfits. Vintage pieces have a timeless quality and a hint of prestige that seems a little less mass-produced, in contrast to some modern costume jewelry. Millefiori, filigree, bali beads, and chandelier style earrings, pendants, and hair accessories are other fashion jewelry items that can easily compliment a variety of outfits.
Find your ideal fashion
Whether your desire to follow celebrity fashion trends, sport unique styles, or discover vintage treasures, fashion jewelry offers unique pieces just right for you. The real key to fashion jewelry is to find an item that uniquely reflects your true taste and style. A flashing piece of sparkle truly becomes a fashion jewel when it exquisitely compliments the smile and the glowing expression on your face.
